Makeover for historic Eketahuna building

A donation of $11,000 from the Eastern and Central Community Trust will kick-start a project involving the painting of the Eketahuna museum, which is on the New Zealand Historic Places Trust register.

Visitors from around New Zealand and from overseas regularly visit the museum which houses collections of early colonial artifacts and exhibitions depicting local history. The Society which runs the museum says it is essential the building is well maintained because of its national interest.

The museum is run by volunteers, who also carry out most of the regular maintenance. The latest project also includes painting and repairs to the surrounding picket fence and adjoining display shed.
